Family of William and Mary "Polly" (BEADLES) RANDALL

According to cememtery and federal census records, William RANDALL was born in March 1785 in Viriginia. In 1809, at age 24, he married 17-year-old Mary BEADLES. The marriage occured in the central Kentucky county of Lincoln.

Mary, called Polly, was also born in Virginia, in May 1792. She was the fourth child of Rice and Sarah BEADLES. The BEADLES probably lived in Pittsylvania County, along the border with North Carolina, where they had married in 1786. Polly's father owned land in Pittsylvania County and across the line in North Carolina. Polly's parents moved to central Kentucky some time before 1799.

By 1815, William and Mary had moved west to Warren County, Kentucky, where their third child and first son, James H. RANDALL was born. Before 1820, they moved to west again, to the state of Missouri. They spent several years in Washington County, Missouri, where the remainder of their ten children were born.

The 1850 federal census list William and Mary both in Washington County, Missouri, and in Fulton County, Illinois. Their son James H. RANDALL and many of Mary's family members had moved to Fulton County in western Illinois before 1840.

The federal census records suggest that William and Mary remained in Fulton County, Illinois for the remainder of their lives. In 1860, they made their home with their daughter Nancy Ellen CAMPBELL and her family. Mary died in 1863. In 1870, William lived with his son Joel's family. William died in December 1872.

William and Mary are buried in fenced plot in Oak Hill Cemetery, Lewistown, IL, along with Mary's brother Nathan BEADLES and his wives. Nathan BEADLES, had no children of his own. When Nathan died in the 1890s, the Nathan's will and the executors of his estate named several of Mary's descendents.
